Our Vision & Mission

Our Vision

Carolina Advocates for Climate, Health, and Equity (CACHE) envisions a future where all North Carolinians, especially those most at risk to environmental threats, can achieve health and wellbeing in the face of a changing climate.

Our Mission

We inspire and activate our network of health professionals and advocates to strengthen community resilience and reduce the health impacts of climate change across North Carolina. We engage our network in climate-informed education, advocacy, and research with community based organizations, health systems, and policy makers. We share resources and co-create pathways to a healthier, more equitable future for all.

Our People

Our network consists of health professionals and advocates across North Carolina who are increasingly concerned about the impacts of climate change on health and health equity, and are committed to integrating this information into their work, clinical practice, and advocacy efforts.

Our Purpose

Climate change is already harming our health and health care delivery in North Carolina. Low-wealth communities and communities of color have been put at greater risk of harm from extreme heat, poor air quality, severe hurricanes, and other climate-related disasters. We believe everyone deserves a healthy, resilient future.

As public health practitioners, physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals from across North Carolina, we have an obligation to protect the health of current and future generations. We have a responsibility to minimize our health systems’ contribution to climate change. And we have an opportunity to re-imagine a healthcare system that bolsters communities against the impacts of climate change.

We are the North Carolina chapter of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health.

Climate change is “the greatest global health threat facing the world in the 21st century…also the greatest opportunity to redefine the social and environmental determinants of health”.
