Why Climate Change Education?

Health professionals are on the frontlines of climate change, caring for patients who are impacted by climate-related extreme heat, worsened air quality, hurricanes, and flooding. At the same time, few have been trained to recognize and address the myriad ways that climate change affects our health and amplifies existing health inequities that stem from structural, environmental, and social drivers of health such as structural racism, poverty, and housing.

Our Committee

Our Education Committee provides health professionals with critical training on the harms of our changing climate to human health, including the amplification of health inequities. We provide education, tools, and strategies for:

  • Integrating climate-informed care into clinical practice

  • Empowering health professionals to share climate-health information with colleagues, trainees, and patients

  • Hosting webinars and conferences to share the latest research

  • Fostering a community of climate-invested health professionals and allies
