Policy & Advocacy for Climate and Health

Research shows that health professionals are trusted sources of information and influential advocates for climate health advancements. We support health professionals in leveraging their voices to support evidence-based policies and initiatives that benefit health right now - including the health and safety of patients and providers, especially in the face of extreme weather and environmental hazards, a transition to renewable energy, and clean and accessible transportation.

Our Committee

The Policy and Advocacy Committee supports health professionals who are interested in driving change to policies, legislation, and community practices with the goal of improving climate health and creating more equitable climate mitigation resilience strategies in North Carolina. We generate fact sheets, action alerts, and meet with legislators to educate and make our voices heard. We work closely with community based organizations and other partners to identify and respond to climate concerns of the most adversely impacted communities across the state. We also partner with the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health on federal climate and health oriented policy and legislative initiatives.
