Preparing for Hurricanes – A Clinician and Community Approach

As hurricane season continues, North Carolina’s clinicians play a vital role in safeguarding patients, health institutions, and communities. This summer, health professional leaders in Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana have been working together on a project to build community resilience before storms strike.

In this session, we will explore:

  • Why preparedness matters for clinicians and communities

  • The health impacts of hurricanes and how to anticipate them

  • Practical steps to support patients, health professionals, and institutions

  • Lessons and resources from the Gulf States Hurricane Preparedness Project

This webinar is co-hosted by Florida Clinicians for Climate Action, The Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health, the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, The Louisiana Medical Consortium on Climate and Health, Mississippi Health Professionals for Climate and Health Equity, and Carolina Advocates for Climate Health and Equity. The goal of the webinar is to empower you with new tools and strategies to lead preparedness efforts in your practice and community.
